Role Overview:

Champion exemplary design within the museum and its 5 sites whilst delivering projects from concept to completion.

Manage and lead the in-house Design Studio, a multi-disciplinary team of design and digital experts.

Outsource, manage and support external designers, artists and contractors to ensure key deliverables are met on all projects.

Provide creative and technical leadership to create a holistic, strategic approach across all sites embodying the RMG brand.
-
Represent and be key contact for the in-house design team including inter-departmental, stakeholders and external consultants and collaborators.

Work closely with Project Managers assuring best practice is upheld throughout the design process.

Responsibility for conducting site wide feasibility studies to steer the design vision and how it is implemented across the site.

Projects include:

Microliving Concept and technical design for a new urban residential typology. In collaboration with U+I, a full scale prototype was constructed and supporting exhibition created at their London Headquarters. Winner of World Architecture Network Competition 2017.

Wonderlab at National Science and Media Museum, Bradford Concept to completion of a permanent Interactive Gallery for 7-14 year olds focussing on Sound and Light. Mixture of off-the-shelf exhibits, artist installations and architect led experiences. Budget £1.6m.

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum Concept to Completion of new displays within the Grade II* World War II Tunnels with displays ranging from 110lb Bomb casement to newly commissioned interactives explaining Fibre Optic technology. Budget £180k.
